Our Children Our Future was a unique event (One of the first ever at this scale) that aims to address issues regarding the betterment of our children’s upbringing and future through education that’s sensitive to the cultural and religious needs of the community. Hence the theme “Our Children Our Future,” - shaping a bright future for young Muslim minds and their role in the wider society.

On Sunday 11th July 2004 an international conference on "Our Children Our Future" was organsied by Jamiatul Ummah, an independent Muslim school in Tower Hamlets. The event was housed at the famous Wembley Conference Centre in Middlesex attended by delegates from UK and abroad. Approximately 3000 delegates attended to hear from renowned international speakers such as, Dr. Yousuf Al Qaradawi (Qatar), Shabir Ally (Canada), Prof. Khurshid Ahmad (UK), Abdulah Bin Baya (Mauritania), Dr. Kemal Helbawy, ASM Mahmudul Hasan Khan (UK). Zain Bhika from South Africa entertained the delegates by performing Nasheed (Islamic songs) from his unreleased Album.

In his speech Dr. Yousuf Al Qaradawi explained that Muslims in Britain should live side by side with other faith groups and make integrated contributions to the society. He argued that isolation from main stream society was not an option but living in cohesion would bring about greater benefit for the Muslims as well as society.

In the height of the media interest on Dr. Yousuf Al Qaradawi, security at the conference was increased and as a result the start of the conference was delayed.

The conference consisted of various activities such as Nasheeds (Islamic Songs), food stalls, clothing stalls, art galleries, souvenir stalls, book stalls and information stalls. Jamiatul Ummah students also performed which was one of the highlights of the day.

The "Our Children Our Future" conference was a challenging event in the midst of all the media coverage, however the conference went well. Approximately 3000 people attended.
